How to Change Stunt Scooter Grips – Step-by-Step Guide

Fresh grips keep your stunt scooter safe and comfortable. Over time rubber wears out, loses traction or starts to tear. Here’s a quick guide to remove the old grips and fit new ones at home.
Tools You’ll Need
- Utility knife or scissors to cut stuck grips
- Flat screwdriver or thin rod to lift the edge
- Soapy water, window cleaner or a little WD-40 as lubricant
- New stunt scooter grips and bar ends
Step-by-Step Replacement
- Secure the scooter. Place it on a flat surface so the handlebar doesn’t move.
- Remove bar ends. Use an Allen key or screwdriver to take them off.
- Take off old grips.
- Slide a flat screwdriver under the grip to create a gap.
- Spray a small amount of soapy water or lubricant inside and twist the grip until it slides off.
- If the rubber is badly worn, cut it off carefully.
- Clean the handlebar. Wipe it dry and remove any glue or dirt.
- Install new grips.
- Lightly spray the inside of each grip with soapy water or cleaner.
- Squeeze and slide the grip onto the bar while twisting to remove air pockets.
- Re-fit the bar ends and tighten them securely.
How Often to Replace Grips
