SCS Compression System Forks for Stunt Scooters
SCS (Standard Compression System) forks give you maximum stiffness, precise steering and long-term durability. Ideal for riders who land big tricks and need a rock-solid front end.
What is SCS?
SCS = Standard Compression System. A dedicated four-bolt SCS clamp locks the fork steerer and handlebar into one rigid unit. Compression is applied through a top cap and bolt, so the headset stays tight. SCS is threadless only and requires no slit in the handlebar, which adds strength.
Key Advantages
- Extreme strength: perfect for heavy street or park riding.
- Stable steering: precise barspins and whips thanks to a solid clamp–fork interface.
- Low maintenance: once dialled, SCS rarely needs adjustment.
- Bar longevity: no-slit bars keep more material and resist cracking.
Compatibility Checklist
- Bars: use no-slit bars. Works with standard Ø31.8 mm (with shim) and oversized Ø34.9 mm bars.
- Headset: must be a threadless headset (integrated or non-integrated). Threaded headsets are not compatible.
- Steerer length: long enough for deck + headset stack + SCS clamp.
- Wheels: most forks fit 100–110 mm, many support 120 mm. Check width (24 mm standard, some accept 30 mm with spacers).
- Axle: typically 8 mm; some forks accept 12STD.
- Material: 6061-T6 or 7075-T6 aluminium for the best strength-to-weight ratio.
How to Choose the Right SCS Fork
- Match the fork’s wheel diameter and width to your setup.
- Confirm axle type: 8 mm is standard; 12STD requires matching hubs.
- Ensure the steerer is long enough for your deck and clamp stack height.
- Choose material: 7075-T6 is lighter and stiffer; 6061-T6 offers great value.
SCS vs. IHC/HIC
- SCS: no-slit bars, four-bolt clamp, maximum rigidity and minimal maintenance.
- IHC/HIC: internal shim compression with slitted bars, lighter feel but less stiff.

FAQ – SCS Forks
Do I need a threadless headset for SCS?
Yes. SCS works only with a threadless headset. Older threaded headsets are not compatible.
Can I use my current bars with SCS?
Only if they have no slit. Standard 31.8 mm bars can be used with a shim, oversize 34.9 mm bars fit without a shim.
Can I use a shim?
Yes. A shim is required if you run standard 31.8 mm no-slit bars in an oversize 34.9 mm SCS clamp. Make sure it is a proper SCS shim for a secure fit.
What wheel sizes fit SCS forks?
Most SCS forks fit 100–110 mm wheels, some also support 120 mm. Check the fork spec for maximum width, 24 mm is standard, some accept 30 mm with spacers.
8 mm axle or 12STD, which should I choose?
8 mm is the common standard and fits most wheels, 12STD is stiffer but requires matching hubs and hardware.
How do I measure the correct steerer length?
Add the deck head tube length, the headset stack height and the SCS clamp height. The steerer must cover this stack and still allow the compression bolt to engage.
