BMX Gyro – a small part that makes a big difference.
A gyro allows you to spin your BMX handlebars a full 360 degrees.
This way, your brake cables won’t tangle or get stuck, letting you spin the bars freely and pull off tricks with ease.
BMX Rotor / Gyro – Full Handlebar Rotation Freedom
The BMX rotor, also known as a Gyro system, lets you spin your handlebars a full 360° without twisting or tangling your brake cables. This means you can pull off tricks like barspins and tailwhips without worrying about cables getting in the way.
Why choose a BMX rotor / Gyro?
- Full freedom of handlebar rotation
- No tangled brake cables
- Enables advanced tricks with ease
- Fits most BMX frames with rotor mounts

BMX Rotor FAQ
What is a BMX rotor and how does it work?
A rotor is a rotating brake system mounted at the head tube. The upper cable goes from the lever to the rotor and the dual lower cable goes from the rotor to the brake. Thanks to this you can spin the bars as many times as you want without twisting the cable.
Is a rotor needed for barspins and tailwhips?
You can ride without it but a rotor makes tricks easier and smoother because the cable does not tighten. Riders who go brakeless skip the rotor completely.
Will a rotor fit my frame?
Your frame must have gyro tabs at the head tube or a compatible adapter and U-Brake 990 posts at the rear. Without these the rotor cannot work correctly.
What is a U-Brake 990 and why do I need it?
A U-Brake 990 is the standard rear brake used with rotors. It mounts on two 990 posts on the frame. If your frame has these posts you can use both the U-Brake and the rotor system.
What parts do I need for a full rotor setup?
You need the rotor plates upper and lower the upper cable the dual lower cable gyro tabs or an adapter a rear U-Brake and cable stops. Using cable lube helps the system run smoother.
How do I choose the correct cable lengths?
Choose cables slightly longer than needed and cut the housing to size. This gives smooth rotation without pulling when the bars spin.
How do I maintain a rotor?
Keep the cables clean lightly lube them and replace worn cables or damaged housing. With regular riding a fresh cable every season keeps the rotor smooth.
