A headset is one of those parts you barely notice until something goes wrong. It lets your handlebar and fork rotate smoothly, which makes it essential for every bike and scooter. If your bars start feeling rough, stiff or noisy, the headset is usually the first place to check.
Before buying a new headset, make sure it matches your fork’s steerer tube. In BMX the standard size is 1 1/8 inch. Some modern frames use 1 1/2 inch lower bearings, and kids’ bikes may have 1-inch steerers. If you are unsure which type fits your setup, just contact us and we will help you choose the right one.
A good headset keeps your tricks smooth and your bike safe, so always stick to branded parts from trusted manufacturers.

The easiest way is to measure the steerer tube of your fork. Most freestyle BMX bikes use 1 1/8 inch. Kids bikes may use 1 inch, and some modern frames use 1 1/2 inch for tapered forks.
No. You must match both the steerer tube size and the frame type, integrated or non-integrated. An incompatible headset will not sit correctly in the head tube.
It is a headset that fits directly into bearings built into the frame, with no external cups. It is the most common type in modern freestyle BMX due to strength, simplicity and easy installation.
If you feel play in the bars, hear clicking when turning, or the steering feels rough, the bearings are worn and the headset needs replacing.
Keep the area clean, check the preload regularly and grease the bearings if they are serviceable. Dirt and lack of lubricant are the most common causes of headset wear.
