NS Bikes Synonym DC 29" is for you if you want to keep the light, fast feel of the Synonym, but need more confidence on descents. This is not a classic XC full-suspension bike. You still get a carbon frame, efficient climbing and fast 29" wheels, but with 140 mm of front travel, 120 mm at the rear and geometry that lets you ride harder on steep and technical trails.

On climbs, the Synonym DC still keeps a sporty feel. It does not feel like you are dragging a heavy trail bike uphill. On descents, the difference compared with a typical XC bike is clear straight away. The 65° head angle, wide carbon handlebar and powerful 4-piston SRAM G2 R brakes give you more control when the trail gets fast, rocky or tight and twisty.

Downcountry with more room for descending

The Synonym DC is the more playful and more aggressive version of the Synonym. If you like long climbs but do not want to back off on descents, this setup makes a lot of sense. The FOX Factory 34 Float FIT4 140 mm fork gives the front end more stiffness and confidence than a classic XC fork, while the FOX Factory Float DPS shock helps keep traction over roots, rocks and fast rough sections.

This bike shows its character best on trails where the pace keeps changing. A climb, a fast corner, a short descent, a rooty section and then another hard push on the pedals. The Synonym DC does not feel slow on flatter ground, but it gives you more confidence when you want to let off the brakes a little more.

These size ranges are a guide. With a modern MTB, it is worth looking not only at rider height, but also at leg length, body proportions and riding style. A smaller size gives a more dynamic feel, while a larger size adds more stability when riding fast off-road.

Geometry that gives confidence on steep trails

The 65° head angle shows straight away that the Synonym DC is built for harder descending than a classic XC bike. The front end does not feel nervous at higher speed, and the bike gives you more composure when you ride into rocks, roots or a steep singletrack section.

A 456 mm reach in size M and 481 mm in size L give you a modern position with more room on the bike. The 438 mm chainstay keeps the rear end well balanced. The bike still responds well when pedalling and coming out of corners, but it does not lose stability on more demanding sections.
