Skate Helmets for Scooter, BMX and Skatepark Riding
A solid skate helmet is essential whether you ride a skateboard, a pro scooter or BMX. Progress means trying new tricks. New tricks mean falls. A certified helmet gives you confidence and lets you focus on landing instead of worrying about your head.
Why wear a skate helmet?
Helmets are now standard in the skatepark and on the street. Even during a relaxed session, one wrong landing can happen fast. A proper skatepark helmet reduces the risk of serious head injury and gives you the mental freedom to push your riding further.
Certified protection for real riding
At RMDBike you’ll find skate helmets, BMX helmets and helmets for pro scooter riders made from durable materials and built for repeated impacts. These helmets are shaped to protect both the forehead and the back of the head, which is crucial during street and park falls.
Good ventilation, strong outer shells and comfortable inner padding make them suitable for long skatepark sessions, not just quick rides.
How to choose the right skate helmet
Fit is everything. A helmet that moves is not protecting you properly. Before ordering:
- Measure your head circumference with a soft tape measure.
- Check the exact size chart on the product page.
Each brand sizes differently, so never guess your size.
Skate helmets for kids
Looking for a kids skate helmet? Choose models marked Junior or Jr, or smaller sizes like XXS–XS. A helmet for children must sit securely and should not shift when they move their head.
Helmets for teens and adults
Most adult riders go for sizes S–XXL. Always compare your head measurement with the manufacturer’s chart. A properly fitted BMX or scooter helmet should feel snug, sit low on the forehead and fully cover the back of the head.
What makes a good skate helmet?
- Snug fit without pressure points.
- Extended coverage at the back for better impact protection.
- Ventilation that works during warmer days.
- Adjustable straps and removable padding for fine tuning the fit.

FAQ – Skate Helmets
Are skate helmets safe for biking?
Not always. Skate helmets and bike helmets are built differently and may follow different safety certifications. Always check whether the helmet is approved for the sport you plan to use it for.
How tight should a skate helmet be?
A skate helmet should fit snug without causing pain. It should not move when you shake your head and should sit low on your forehead while covering the back of your head properly.
Do I need to replace my helmet after a crash?
If the impact was strong, most brands recommend replacing the helmet even if no cracks are visible. The internal foam can compress and lose its ability to absorb impact.
Why are skate helmets shaped differently than bike helmets?
Skate helmets usually have a rounder shape and extend lower at the back to protect the occipital area and forehead. They are designed to handle multiple smaller impacts. Bicycle helmets are typically optimized for single high-speed impacts and often have more ventilation and a different coverage profile.
