Most BMX pedals use a 9/16 inch thread which fits modern 3 piece cranks. Some older or very basic bikes with 1 piece cranks use a 1/2 inch thread so check your crank before buying.
Both work well depending on how you ride.
If your crank uses a 9/16 inch thread then yes. This is the standard in almost all freestyle BMX bikes today. If you have a 1 piece crank you may need 1/2 inch pedals.
Pins create grip between your shoe and the pedal. Plastic pedals use molded pins. Metal pedals use replaceable metal pins. More pins usually mean more grip but also a higher chance of hitting your shins if your foot slips.
The left pedal has a left hand thread which tightens counterclockwise. The right pedal tightens clockwise. Use a 15 mm wrench or an Allen key depending on your pedal model and apply a bit of grease to the thread.
The most common reasons are mismatched thread size, not enough tightening force or lack of grease on the threads. In some cases worn crank arms or damaged pedal axles can also cause looseness.
