It’s the core part that connects the deck, fork and handlebar into one solid setup. Without a compression system you can’t assemble or ride a stunt scooter.
It keeps the scooter tight and removes play that develops during riding. A properly tightened system also lets the handlebar spin smoothly for tricks and bar spins.
The main systems are HIC, IHC, SCS and ICS. HIC is reliable and light for oversized bars, IHC is a lighter version that fits standard bars, SCS is the strongest and most universal, and ICS is the lightest option for ultra-light setups.
ICS is the lightest on the market, followed closely by IHC—great for riders who want a super-light scooter.
SCS (Standard Compression System) offers the most strength and the least chance of loosening, which is why it’s popular with street riders and heavy trick sessions.
Check your bar diameter, whether your bar has a slit and the fork type. Match these specs to the product description of the compression kit before buying.
Inspect it every few sessions. If you hear rattling or feel handlebar play, re-tighten immediately to prevent damage or unsafe riding.
Most systems use a standard metric Allen or hex key. Check the size specified by your clamp or fork manufacturer and follow their instructions for proper installation.
