No. SCS requires bars with no slit. If your handlebar has a slit you must use a bar plug or have it welded closed for the clamp to hold properly.
SCS works with standard 31.8 mm and oversized 34.9 mm bars. For 31.8 mm you’ll need a shim inside the clamp, while 34.9 mm bars fit directly.
Yes, you can shorten them if the manufacturer allows it. Because SCS bars have no slit, no extra machining is needed after cutting, just smooth the edges.
Most riders choose 4130 chromoly steel for strength. Titanium offers the same strength with lower weight but at a higher price, while aluminum is rarely used for SCS because of wall-thickness requirements.
Inspect clamp bolts and the compression bolt every few sessions. Tighten if you feel play in the bars or headset and keep headset bearings clean and lightly greased.
