HIC (Hidden Internal Compression) uses an oversized bar with a dedicated shim and a simple compression bolt. It has fewer parts than SCS and offers more robustness than IHC at a low overall weight, which many riders like for park and street.
Yes. Use an HIC-compatible fork with the correct steerer dimensions for the HIC shim and a compression bolt long enough to reach the top cap inside the fork.
HIC is designed for oversized bars with a 34.9 mm outer diameter and a slit. In practice riders choose steel or titanium bars for this system because they provide the needed strength and correct dimensions.
Tighten until headset play is gone and the bar still turns smoothly. Do not overtighten, as that can damage bearings. Use the hex key size recommended by your clamp or fork brand and check the feel after a short test ride.
Inspect every few sessions. Big drops and heavy tricks can loosen hardware, so a quick check before riding keeps the scooter dialed and prevents headset rattle.
Most kits include an HIC shim, a compression bolt, and a top cap or washer. Some brands also bundle an oversized clamp. Always check the product description for exact contents, as some forks already include certain parts.
