HIC Compression System for Stunt Scooters
The HIC (Hidden Internal Compression) system is one of the most popular choices among park and street riders. It’s simple, lightweight, and extremely strong, making it perfect for advanced tricks and heavy landings.
HIC works with oversized scooter handlebars, they have an external diameter of 34.9 mm and an internal diameter of 31.8 mm. To fit them, the fork uses a shim that increases the diameter, and the bars must have a slit cut to allow the clamp to tighten properly.
In our shop you’ll find HIC-compatible handlebars, forks, and clamps designed for riders who demand both durability and performance. Oversized bars give extra stability and control compared to standard ones, which is why HIC is often chosen for big tricks and street riding.
Why choose HIC?
- Strength – built for big tricks and hard landings.
- Simplicity – easy to assemble and maintain.
- Stability – oversized bars provide more control and balance.
Among the trusted brands available at RMDBike you’ll find Ethic, Blunt Envy, Lucky, Native, Triad, and many more. Each HIC-ready product is tested by riders to ensure top performance in the park or on the street.
Not sure if HIC is the right system for your scooter? Contact us, our team will help you choose the right handlebar, fork, and clamp to match your setup and riding style.

FAQ – HIC Scooter Handlebars
Do HIC handlebars need a slit?
Yes. HIC requires a slit at the bottom of the bar so the clamp can tighten securely onto the fork.
Which diameter bars work with HIC?
HIC is designed for oversized bars: ~34.9 mm outer diameter with ~31.8 mm inner diameter. Standard 31.8 mm bars are generally not used with HIC; riders usually pick true oversized steel bars for this system.
Can I use aluminum bars with HIC?
Usually no. Because HIC needs a 34.9 mm outside diameter and a 31.8 mm inside diameter plus a slit, most HIC bars are 4130 chromoly steel. Aluminum walls would be too thin in this spec.
Can I cut HIC handlebars?
Yes, if the manufacturer allows it. After shortening you must re-cut the slit so the HIC clamp can compress correctly.
Can HIC bars fit an SCS compression system?
Possible with the right setup: you need to neutralize the slit (e.g., bar plug/adapter; some riders weld the slit closed) and use a compatible SCS clamp. Many riders prefer dedicated SCS bars instead.
Steel or titanium for HIC bars?
4130 chromoly steel is the standard for strength and durability. Titanium is lighter and strong but pricier, usually chosen by advanced riders.
How often should I check my HIC setup?
Inspect clamp bolts and the compression bolt every few sessions. Tighten if you feel play in the bars or headset, and keep headset bearings clean and lightly greased.
